A new generation of fiercely independent storytellers — filmmakers, theatre artistes, colourists, and guerrilla crews -— is crafting a distinct cinematic language. Working with borrowed cameras, local actors, and micro-budgets, they are reclaiming cinema as a medium of meaning: personal, political, and unvarnished.

Young filmmakers make short film 'Pinds of Punjab'
Breaking stereotypes associated with the Punjabi film industry - a group of young & enthusiastic city based film-makers have made a 15 minute short film 'Pinds of Punjab', by using the concept of 'cinematic realism'. 'Cinematic realism' is a type of film making style which presents characters that are very much akin to real life people & the style of making establishes a realistic feel amongst the audience. Depicting the real story of rural Punjab in contemporary times
'Pinds Of Punjab' is a 15 min short, independent film produced by few friends who go together and realised that they needed to project Punjab in its true light, away from what is normally depicted in films. The story is based in present day rural Punjab, it is on substance abuse and inter-caste relations away from their village. As the story unfolds it explores different strata of society.
