Until 1862, the Nire Valley in County Waterford did not have its own church or graveyard. When a person died in the area, an arduous two-day journey was undertaken to carry the deceased across the Comeragh mountains to the closest cemetery. The Funeral Path is a short, black comedy that imagines what may have happened if a particularly troublesome corpse were to suddenly appear in the neighbourhood.
